The Polaris 4wd system does not work downhill for engine braking. When engaged, the front wheels can spin ahead of the rear wheels, this is what makes the Polaris system easy to steer, even in 4wd, with no front differential, just a ring and pinion.
This system works great in mud, but it absolutely does not engage the front wheels for engine braking.
The rear wheels are engaged positively for engine braking, and as soon as they start to slide, the front wheels keep rolling, faster than the rear wheels, as the system is designed to do.
Sorry, but Polaris only has 2wd engine braking. This is true of the older hub system and the newer system as well.

rice burner???? when did atvs start being called rice burners? just curious. well boyz i got to ride witha polaris last weekend. have to say i was very impressed. all 4 tires did turn in mud. have to say very good mudder. but when we got to the rock climbs and rock crawling part they didnt do as good as the king quad or grizz. now this dont mean they didnt go over it. they did but they would slide off the side of the rock and looked like it was a lot ruffer ride then ours. then again this could all be in the tires. they both has the goodyear rawhides!!!
