Default Which Big Bore to Buy?

I am in the western NY area and ride a ton. I currently have a Polaris 500 H.O. but am looking for a new ride as all my buddies are now blowing me away with Polaris 700's and 650 Honda's. I've done a winter of reading web site, magazines, forums and come up with still little decisive data.

First my riding habits. We tend to ride occasional sand, occasional groomed trail and occasional mud but most often we ride some ugly technical stuff (trail, who needs a trail, I can go straight up that mountain). I thought about a KFX700 or DS650 as a change of pace, but don't think they can handle many of our 'adventures' off the beaten path. FYI, I am about 6'3" and 260# so a small machine just will not do. I also have more than enough personal horse power to throw around a larger machine (I've had my 500 off the ground many a time). Again, it is East coast forest mud/claw/debris most often.

I have no interest in the Honda as I've been unimpressed with what I've ridden. I have really come down to The Polaris 800, the King Quad, and the Brute Force. I've heard good things about the handling and 'jumpability' of the King Quad but also heard that they lack in the HP department. The Brute Sounds promising and the only issues I've heard have been handling that may or may not be overcome by aftermarket rubber. Can anyone confirm what the Kawa big boy does with some wide 26's on it, maybe something like Bearclaws or Blackwaters? The Polaris 800 seems the best bet overall, though the weight of it might take some of the fun out, and it runs $1500 more. If it is the right choice then ce la vie and adios to an extra $1500...but I'd like to try to get as much info before taking the dive. Other than smoking belts like it's my job, my 500 has been bulletproof.

Please post input, and thanks!

Not much of a response...I guess I'll look to grab a BF750 and see if I can get the dealer to upgrade the tie rods right out of the box.

I have a kawie 700 prairie and a kawie BF750 and they are both great. I am bias towards kawie, but you really can't go wrong with polaris, yamaha, suzuki or honda. And artic cat and bombardie are good too. But as far as the 700 prairie or BF750.......no problems. Good luck and let us know what you buy.

It's done.

2005 Brute Force 750, and ICM PAK, a set of 26" Mud Lites on C5's, and a new two quad Load Rite aluminum side load trailer.

Next will be exhaust and shift kit.
