Lakota or Warrior
#1
I am looking for a sport/utility quad to do some trail riding and riding through the fields at my house. What are some of the ups and downs of both of these(speed, handling, hillclimbing, mud) ?

i have only ever ridden a lakota for a very short time but i have ridden a warrior alot. I own one. the warrior has the slight edge on power. but i think i liked the lakotas handling a little better. but it had holeshots or razors so that might have contributed to it. for hill climbing i would go with the warrior as it has just enough more power to make a big difference. as for mudding they should both do about equally them being 4x2's i hope this helps also remember the lakota was designed to be slightly more utility than sport. but not by much. i think it would come down to you sitting and ridding both of them to see which you like better

man the lakota is the way too go...my quad can keep up with 400's on hillclimbs and its got alot of power for a 300..also the lakota is very reliable and it just last for ever with just simple maintances...for the mud i never got stuck and i still have my stock tires which suck by the way...gettin new ones this summer...but the lakota's are great in the mud and can get out of anything..mine is great in the snow too and you can get a plow if you really want for the winter..lakota's are get for trail riding and are just great quads to rip around on...i really have no complaints about my lakota...it sounds like a perfect quad for what your looking for...trail rding and riding through fields...i have rode both quads and i didnt have too much riding time on a warrior but i feel that my lakota is a great quad and dont regret buying it...

i own a 99 warrior....never had a single problem with it. i live in northern arizona, which is probly the rockiest place on the earth and let me tell ya, all those rocks make it one heck of a ride when your climbing some of the hills around this area! and when you start climbing all you can think is....damn....why did i do this?! but once the warrior starts to bog down you speed shift into a lower gear give it the gas and it gets her done. one day i'll have to put some pics of the places i ride, its not exactly a yellow brick road. and i'll admit i have gotten my warrior stuck on occasion....cuz see i got this wash by my house that only has running water in it about once a year after a big storm. and so me and a friend went to go mudbogging, not thinking that the wash would be running yet....so we were thrashing our usual trails and went flying over this hill and darn the luck....there just happened to be a flash flood about 10 miles upstream that day and both of us were stuck with water going over the fenders. and since both of us being pretty easy going and didnt want to make the effort to pull the quads out of the water and get soaking wet....we layed down on top of the quad and took a little nap hoping that within the next hour while we were resting the water would go down and we could just drive the things out. but no as my luck would have it....it started to hail and bolts of lightning were popping all around us! wow...there was some motivation cuz we jumped in that water and practically lifted those bikes out of the water and we went and hid under a really tall tree. but what im getting at is that my warrior still runs perfectly after being almost completely submerged in some of the dirtiest water out there. and i could go on about another time where the ol warrior drove me miles down the narrowest roughest canyon going back and forth through a river with steep banks and mud everywhere. the warrior has definetly impressed me with its trail riding capabilities. and of course if you live in a small town thats about 3 miles from one end to the other its the cool thing to cruise down main every now and then in your piece of junk high school drop out car....but nobody and i mean nobody was cool enough to drive down main on quads! so me and a friend did just that and were able to get one town cop and a sherriff to try and catch us! but we just took a side street and went out in the boonies and they left us alone. and........i don't know what the point of that story was, i know i had one.................oh yeah!!!! my friend was on a 300ex bored out to 330, and my stock warrior managed to stay well ahead of him on our "little redneck adventure packed with adrenaline rush thrill" thru town. anyways im pretty sure ive babbled long enough and gotten in over my head. get the warrior.
