well depending on how big you are would depend on the bike you get i would have to say the new raptor 700 or ds 650 which are good dune quads. The 400ex is a good quad but you might get tired of it after riding it for a long time and want more power especially riding in the dunes. But for a beginner the 400 ex or z400 would be decent.
