I need some help deciding what ATV fits me best. I want a quad that I can use for hunting (has racks, hitch) but is on the sporty side so I can tear up the trails. I know I want one that you can switch from 2x4 to 4x4 and am undecided on weather or not to get automatic trans; let me know your oppinions on this issue.

Thanks for any reccomendations and help!!

Well it sounds like you just described the 4x4 Kodiak, its switchable 2wd/4wd and its the sportiest utility in its class. In 4x4 you can tear up some mud of pull stuff around the house and in 2wd you can rip up the trails like a sports quad. The automatic transmission on mine has been flawless in every situation I needed it to come through for me. As a Kodiak owner, I highly recommend this machine to anyone looking for a great all around quad. The 2001 comes with a speedometer while the 2000 doesnt, so you might want to get the newer one. I dont think the Kodiak will dissapoint you.

The Kodiak is a great machine. But a Grizzly will rip up the trails with alot more authority. Its alittle heavier but has more then enough power to make up for that. Its also an auto, which I didn't really like at first. But time has shown it to be pretty bullet proof, and as it turns out, works very well.

What I'm concerned about is the atomatic going to be boring? What do you guys think from your experiences?

automatics rock, when your on a trail the last thing your thinking about is gears, at least I dont. I agree the Grizzly is a awesome machine but I like the Kodiak just a bit better due to the size and watercooled factor. I wish an engine as big as the grizz didnt have to rely on air to cool it alone.
