Default 2002 honda 250ex

thank you guys for the info on the z400 and the pred, but this beeing my first quad i think i need to start with something easier to ride. also money is an issue i could not justify sending $6000 on a quad. my friend is selling his 2002 honda 250 ex and i think im going to buy it. i just wanted to know if there is anything wrong with that model. it looks perfect at it runs good. it also has a white bros pipe on it and its jetted. i think i can get it for $2500, is that a good deal. also its a gear drive and i guess it would be called a semi-auto becuase you shift but there is no clutch. thanks for any help

The 250 is a dead solid reliable machine. Its suspension is adequate, but certainly not plush. If it has the balooney stock tires, swap them out for something with a square profile (I run Holeshots).

I don't know but, you are going to think it is under powered quick. I'd save up for a bigger used machine.

For that price you should be able to find a 300ex or a warrior in good shape.

I'll say this: If I were stranded out in the middle of nowhere and I could pick 1 ATV to get out on, the 250ex would be on my short list. It's just a solid fun bike to throw around the tight trails(very reliable).

Where I ride, size is a handycap. My buddy just got a new big-bore and I ride his old 250ex most of the time........most of the time waiting for him to clear a passable path on that giant wheeler. The 250ex is a blast on tight, un-even trails. We don't have many wide open trails around here, so top speed really isn't a factor.

Those 250EX are just about indestructable, but I agree for $2500 you can find a decent Warrior or 300EX and have a faster quad that is also durable when properly maintained.

well ended up getting the 250. as far as power it gets the job done. this is my first quad so i dont really have anything to measure that to, but i think the white bros pipe peps it up alittle. and for the price i couldent really find anything around me that was uner 3000. so im happy with the purchase. and about the speed of the quad. im not really worried about that. i dont plan on drag racing. but thanks for all the info. now i just need to find more places to ride. anyone know good spots in western washington. or in the roslyn, easton area?

Congrats. You have a solid machine that will go just about anywhere the larger sport quads will go. Just takes a little longer to get there sometimes is all. I have actually been impressed with the 250EX, as when I have ridden with them, they are more cpable than I originally figured.
