I have been looking into buying a 4x4 for some time. I know this dealer who is pretty honest with my and he stated that the Kodiak is a great mechine. I test drove it and I liked it except that I didn't feel that it had alot of power in it. Of course that could be the auto trans. They also have a used 1999 Grizzly that I havn't test drove yet, but I am looking into tring it for a couple of reasons. It is about $1500 less and it also has a 600cc engin. What should I do?

Ride the griz first then decide. Personally I have the kodiak and love it. It has all the power I need, and will stay with the griz to 30-35 mph.Remember the kodiak is liquid cooled lighter and alot sportier I personally think it's a much better mudder, don't get me wrong the griz is an awesome beast, but it can't stay with my kodiak in the woods.

I have never ridden the 2000-2001 Kodiak. I used to own a 99 Kodiak, but it was a different animal then the new one is. Ride the Griz first, then decide. I ride a 2001 Grizzly. I really love this machine! I haven't ridden with a 2001 Kodiak either, so I can't say how it compares. But I went out trail riding last weekend with a couple of 400ex's, a few Banshees, and a Raptor. I was able to keep up to those guys on my griz! I'm kinda sore today from that ride. I had to work for it, but by god I did it! A Kodiak might have been able to do it easier. The Griz is heavier. But it has more power also. You have to decide for yourself. If you want a heavier 4x4 with lots of power that will haul and pull alot of weight, you would probably want the Grizzly. If you want a lighter, sportier bike that won't be able to haul or pull as much weight, and not quite as powerful, then the Kodiak would be the one you want. Either way you win, they are both great bikes!

Well I descided to buy the Kodiak. After the test drive and a few fights with myself I opted for the sportier of the two. I am going to pick it up on Sat and try to break it in a bit. I will let you know what I think after I have a few days to beat on it. Thanks for the input.
