Utility or sport. Don't listen to us on that. If my wife posted on here and bought the wrong one, I would be mad that these people think they knew what I wanted. There is good advice on what to buy in each area.

I prefer Yamaha myself, but to each their own. Just give him a little prodding and ask him why he likes quads and what he thinks he would ever need one for. act like you are trying to disuade him and see what he wants and then go out and get it.
I would definetly say for someone his size a 400 or bigger, at 200lbs myself on hills my older 250 drags down quite a bit on me.
so I moved up to a 450 and would actually like about another 50 or 100cc to the engine. but the 450 is more than capable for what I actually need.
