Sorry cant help , up here in Northern Ontario Canada the trails are so rough with boulders and mud holes that No one owns a sport ATV. The rear sprocket with its 4" ground clerance would not last a day before being smashed off.

I think you will find it to be absolutely the opposite! A large heavy machine, is going to be way harder to handle. Imagine you are seriously off camber shooting a big bowl.....on this huge tall machine that weighs 600+ pounds.
You want something that is light, agile, has a tight low center of gravity, and is flickable......something that feels like a toy under you, not like a big huge tall tank!

Well All,
I really appreciate all the input from everyone. Its been a great discussion. I had a chance today to go out and compare all the major brands of quads and displacement options out there.
I think I have decided to go with Kawasaki 450R. The KFX 700 was just too big for me right now.
Hope everyone enjoyed the discussion.
So does anyone have any comments on the KFX450r?

My buddy has one (KFX450), and I have ridden it quite a bit. I think Kawi was shooting more for a pseudo track machine here, than something for cross-country. The engine will lug down a little better than the other 450's (all the 450's are pure rev!).
The fuel tank is small and it runs out of gas long before anybody else. You do get fuel injection, which is nice....and reverse for those who need it.
