Default NEWBIE question about buying new ATV

Did you check out the 500 X2?? Great atv! 1 up with pick up bed and 2 up with jump seat flipped up. Make sure to get ADC/EBS will be marked on 2008 4wd switch. 2007 isn't marked, make sure. The 6" longer wheelbase makes the atv much more stable and smoother.

Default NEWBIE question about buying new ATV

What about the touring model? How does it compare to the X2 since they are both two seaters? ADC/EBS is standard on the 500 EFI for 2008 (at least that's what it says on the pamphlet I took from the store)

The X2 and Touring are the same atv just differant rear end. X2 comes with pick up box and Touring with 2nd seat. The X2 is nice 1 rider atv with lots of front and rear storage and can be converted to a 2 up by flipping the rear jump seat up.
The Touring is 2 up and currently nothing to replace the 2nd seat with.
Yes the 2008 have ADC/EBS standard and are marked on the 4wd switch. Not so in 2007.
The X2 and Touring also have turf mode, won't rip up the yard or driveway when turning.
If more time riding 1 up 75% or more I'd recomend the X2, if riding more than 25% with a passenger I'd get the Touring

Default NEWBIE question about buying new ATV

Can the X2 make as tight turns as the regular model, and would it be more difficult to stear because of the added weight or do you think it would be about the same?

Turf mode unlocks the rear diff! It will turn sharper and easier than a regular atv with a locked diff.

you should never ride 2 on a machine built for one, enough said. Can Am makes a really nice 2x atv. I met a guy on the trail with one and what a nice machine! he was by himself this time and still a great ride for him alone.

I don't care what any of these hypocrites that say they never rode double before, if you have the land and don't have to follow the one rider rule then ride double whenever it trips your trigger. Obviously I wouldn't do as much as I would single but it really isn't life threatening like playing baseball with a 3 iron in a lightning storm on the 9th hole. You brown nosin do gooders kill me.

Don't listen to the do gooders on here that think they kissing someones hind end for posting that riding double is dangerous, irresponsible, uncomfortable.....whatever. If I were you I would spend the extra money to get at least the 700 and that way riding double would be no problem at all in the power department and you could tear it up by yourself if you want to.</end quote></div>

Yeah listen to this guy! Who needs helmets! who needs rules! ride where you want, when you want, heck with everyone, tear it up!

or be responsible and do the right thing with out having to be told what to do! besides most places are not allowing 2 up on a single passenger atv!</end quote></div>

Not really sure how your panties got into that terrible bunch but, you better remove them before your wife sees them crammed up there. Don't know were I said anything about helmets, or tresspassing, or the heck with everybody. All I'm saying is it sounds like this guy is going to be poking around and be riding single MOST of the time. If I had the extra money I wouldn't spend it on a 2-up if I'm hardly ever going to ride two up. Some people like to throw opinions out there to make themselves look like the ATV rider poster child and I just like to say it how it is. Some people don't like to hear it like it is. Riding double can be just as safe as riding single with a little brains.

EX. hypocrite.

Now it's ok to ride double as long as it is less than 25% of the time. Oh OK. So every 3 days I ride by myself I can ride the 4th day double and don't need a 2-up. Yep, listen to this guy if you want but, I'd listen to people you have a little more experience.

Default NEWBIE question about buying new ATV

Check with your states dnr to see if there is a law for riding 2 on a single machine. My dealer here in wisconsin said they are looking at passing a law which will prohibit riding double unless on a two up. They feel to many people have gotton hurt from machines flipping over backwards on up hills. I myself started riding in 1983 on 3 wheelers, and going on to 4 wheelers riding double all the time with my wife. I just bought the new 08 700 trv le which is a touring model. Its the only way to go.
