Which would be the better deal? The retail on the Rancher 350S/ES are $4399/4599 respectively and the Grizzly's retail is $4599. The Grizzly has the Rancher beat by about 60cc's,but the Rancher is an OHV engine. My riding includes wide open riding on dirt roads, hillclimbing, water crossing(deep),and pretty severe mud riding.I have never needed a 4wd,or probably ever will judging by the conditions i've encountered. Which has the highest top speed (numbers please)? Best snorkel/water protection? Anyone know HP numbers on these two? My most recent quads were a 94 Timberwolf(Beartracker) and 95 Kawasaki Bayou 220,so thse will be my only comparison. The Timberwolf had good top speed,Bayou was about 5mph slower, but the semi IRS on the Bayou made up for it...that,and the ability to run submerged underwater for about 20 seconds. I'm sure the Rancher and the Grizzly are both way better than these. Thanks fellas. No quad yet........Mobile,AL

Buy THE "GRIZZLY 400"!!!! It must be a rare one off factory prototype that escaped the factory!! I am sure you could resell it to a Yamaha collector for enough money to buy a Rancher AND a Kodiak or Big Bear(Yamaha's current 400cc quads).
Man what a find you have on your hands, buy it quick before the factory discovers that it's missing!!! You lucky devil!!! Like winning the ATV lottery, that's what it is!!! You must be livin right!!! The ATV Gods have looked down upon you with favor!!!

I think that you might be thinking about a Big Bear 400 instead of a Grizzly (which is a 600) but I may be wrong. I dodn't see a Grizzly 400 on the Yamaha web site but I guess that isn't proof positive that it doesn't infact exhist.
Any way I would recommend the Rancher over the Yamaha product. Both seem like fine machines , I test rode a Rancher and a Big Bear and I liked the Rancher much better. It felt much more stable.
