Looking for 4x4
Cowboy my brother had a 1987 Kawasaki Bayou 300 2x4 back in early 1990 that we rode in some swamp land , my cousin had a 1989 Suzuki LT4WD 250 Quad Runner and i had a 1986 Honda TRX350FM Foreman 4x4 ; my brotherwent everywhere we went on our 4x4's and some places we couldn't because the 300 Bayou had a wider wheel base !
I only had to pull him out once in the swamp when he got stuck because he didn't have the rearwheel diff lock on , if he had 4x4 it wouldn't have happened ; he had to help us get up this rutted out hill mainly because when he went up this rutted out hill after he got the ground wet causing our quads to slide into the rut's and he had to help us get up the hill for this reason alone !
If the 300 Bayou 300 had only had 4x4 it couldn't to stopped , the Suzuki with the narrowest wheelbase had the most trouble getting up the slick hill even with ; so in my opinion the Kawasaki Bayou with 4x4 would be the best buy !
I had a 1993 Suzuki LT4WD 300 KQ and it was a smaller quad that was a capibal quad , but i got stuck on it in the swamps than on my old 86' Honda Foreman 4x4 even though the Foreman had straight axle's front and rear and slick tires ; i would try them all and then deside but i think ( at least if the Kawasaki is a 4x4 quad !
Good luck with whatever you choose there's all good Quads , i ride a 2006 Arctic Cat 400 FIS Auto with the Suzuki powered 376cc Suzuki Engine and Suzuki's Duramatic Belt Driven Clutched Tranny and i love it ; but take a test ride of all the quads you're interested in before you buy !.......

Get a Grizzly. No, get a Brute Force. No, get a King Quad. Even better, get a Rincon. Why do people ask these questions on here? Nothing wrong with getting opinions, but it seems like all you get on this forum is the preferred brand of the people responding. Go do some research and read some reviews. It will give you a much better idea of what to look for.

Honda Fourtrax 300 4x4, or Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4/Kodiak 400 4x4 would be my pick for an old cheap tough small 4x4 for mud riding. Maybe an older Rancher 350 or Foreman 400.
Oh, and since the OP is looking at used Bayou 300 & King Quad 300, and said CHEAP, I doubt he is interested in a new big bore Brute or Sportsman etc...
