hey yall i am looking into buying 1 of these 2 quads. which would yall reccomand to me and why? i am not a novice rider nor am i new to quads so i can handle anything. i am just not sure what i want. i will be doing hill climbs and alot of trails. i do ride fast but no tracks those days are over for me....lol....for those who know the area i will be riding at tower city PA mostly. the 2 quads i am looking at are
1) 2005 LTZ-400 about 20 hours on it. i know this for a fact because it is a friends quad.
2) 2004 kfx700 low hours and that is all the add says....

The KFX is needlessly heavy and one huge pig!!! These should only be an option if one is a huge individual and can't fit on anything smaller...in which case I would recommend the DS650 instead anyway. Several of my friend's have them, and they won't trail ride with me (all they can do is dunes), because they can't even get that huge beast between the trees. Plus, nothing that calls itself a "sport" quad, should have an automatic transmission.
The LTZ on the other hand is a peach! Nice handling, good suspension, descent power (lots of hop up potential in that engine, with just some simple mods), and very reliable!

Those are two totally different animals there....... they could not be more different......
recon is right.....
My father has the kfx700 and I've ridden it many times.... the thing is a TANK and handles like one..... and in spite of what people might tell you they are not faster..........stock-for-stock they are about the same speed..... I used to race my father all the time and depending on who got off the line better was who would stay ahead.... so there is really no speed benefit on the 700 either...... and forget jumping the thing.... I laugh at my father as he bounces off the ground like a ball after landing a big jump....that suspension is horrible for any kind of aggressive sport riding....
Unless you really don't want to shift gears get the z400...... I would not ride a KFX700 if it was the last "sport" machine on Earth...... I would rather switch to a 4x4 Ute..... if I'm going to ride something that big I want 4x4 and a tow hitch.......

My gut feeling after riding the 700 was, big, big power, but handles like a ute and rides like a sport. They do sound nice though I haven't ridden tower city, but seem to recall hearing it was pretty rocky there? The 700 might have a slight clearance advantage in that case. Overall, I would pick the Z because it fits MY riding style better, and has a better known maintenance history/etc. They ride and handle so much different you really are going to have to try them out for yourself I think.
