Well the kawazuki 400 had losts of problems with the years he would be interested in frame in 03-04 cluth cover in 05 and up he wants to buy something that hes not gonna have 2 take a welder to or pull the cluth cover off and have 2 replace tht basicly the bottum line is he wants to buy this quad take it home and ride it without having to deal with any problems at all</end quote></div>
Clutch cover is a relatively easy fix, and covered under recall. Frame issue was on the 03 models only.
If he wants a used one that isn't gonna have a problem or two of some kind, Powerwheels is going to be his best bet.

I dunno, I've seen some used Powerwheels that need help. The wheel bearings go out quick, and the battery always needs attention.
Seriously...he cant go wrong with any of the machines already mentioned. In fact, the biggest decider might be personal preference. Or stickers. Stickers always make my choice for me.

the raptor is a great play machine. if there is a way to get a 700 raptor i would. stock has good power, good suspension, great brakes (i know this does not seem like a big deal but it is!). and if u need more power after riding a little while the 700 accepts upgrades very well and can mae as much hp as about anything.

The 03 models had issues with the frame cracking around the shock mounts. A gusset kit would have fixed that, but like you said, you don't want to buy something you have to weld. Doesn't mean the frame won't crack on the other year models, or other brands for that matter. How the previous owner treated it will determine that.
If the kfx is stock, it will be a good thing for him to learn on, and there are lots of mods to add power later.
Keep in mind that it's really a Z400. So if you do want to add anything to the motor or suspension, you have a lot wider selection to choose from.

yea i told him to look at the 400ex but he said "I dont want no piece of junk hondey i want a real machine that wont break"</end quote></div>
Actually, Honda probably makes the most reliable engine out there. I wouldn't say they make the fastest stuff, but they do make very very reliable engines. From how that sounded, it sounded like he doesn't like Honda's in general otherwise he'd know that they make good products.

I've been reading just about all these posts and realized that the guy wants a bulletproof machine. Any machine out there is just as reliable as the next. The only reason you'd have to fix one all the time is A) you bought it from a previous owner who basically sold you a lemon or B) you take crappy care of your quad and beat the crap out of it everytime you take it out. Treat your quad right and change the oil when you're supposed to and you'll be fine. I hear from people all the time that say this particular year of this particular quad had some major problems, don't buy that. Then, I hear from someone else saying that same quad is the best one he's ever ridden. Someone stated earlier that every manufacturer has its bad quads that come out of the factory and some poor guy is going to end up with that quad. He's then going to say that that brand sucks and it makes crap. In my opinion, no particular brand of quad is so bad that it needs regular maintenince. Treat your quad good and it'll do the same to you. With that said, now its all about brand preference, looks, and size of engine. Hope your friend finds what he's looking for.
