Need help choosing a new sport quad
#22
Hi I don't know if I am doing this right but I need some advice with my 2009 suziki 400 ltz quad. I just replaced my stock pipe with a full exhaust Yoshimura and the pim 2 controller. I live in New Brunswick Canada and its really cold here. The system comes with map 1 for slip on and map 2 for full exhaust. I connected map 2 as I am supposed to. My pipe is burning cherry red because she is burning too lean. Too cold here. Now Yoshimaura is saying I need a data box to fine tune it. They cost a whole lot of money and I am looking for someone who might have a map for colder weather or any suggestions please. I am just learning about this quad - its the first fuel injected so things are different.
Thanks

Hi Mackie, welcome to the forums! You will need to start a new thread with an appropriate title for the best results. I don't have a map for you, but I will say many aftermarket exhausts will run cherry until after the first bend. They save weight by using a thinner wall alloy/stainless/Ti depending on the system you are running. Perfectly normal and to be expected. Check the plug for a better picture of lean/rich condition. Even better would be to find someone with a dyno that can check air/fuel ratio and fine tune it for you.
