i'll put my 2 cents in the pot: honda atv's can be summed up in one word: reliability. even though it is basic, open diffrential, and 12 years old, i don't think your son will be dissappointed.

Well my son offered the man 1700 dollars and has yet to hear back from him so he's looking elsewhere.

He told me he would really like to have a Rancher 350, like I used to own, but a search of Craigslist shows not many of them are available. What are available are either ES models or just 2wds and they were few!

I bet out of 500 listings in went through last night, there were maybe 20 listings for Ranchers....I kid you not! In fact, most seemed to be for Harley Davidson motorcycles!

Meanwhile, we are are going to go look at a 04 Recon ES for my youngest son. A woman my wife works, plus her husband, went and bought their daughter a new 420 and their 6 year old son a new Recon for Christmas. Instead of handing down the 04 Recon, which the 6 year old drives, they are buying him a new one. Go figure!

My youngest son has outgrown his TRX 90 and it has been handed down to the grand children. A Recon is about the right size for him now.

The woman told my wife that we could get the Recon for 1100 dollars and that's a good buy in my opinion if it's as great a shape as they claim it to be.
