Do all dealers charge freight on new Yamahas($200)? Can you negotiate to eliminate this? Who gets the money, the dealer, yamaha or both?

Not sure about who gets the money. I bought an '01 Big bear about a month ago and paid exactly what I was quoted. 4699.00 Wrote them a check and they had it loaded before I finished the paperwork. Drove 2 hrs to get the deal but saved 800.00 over any other dealer in Atlanta. They were trying to hit me with freight and with an assembly fee on top of list price (What a deal!). I told him to sell it to me unassembled and I would pick it up at the plant (25min from my house)As you can guess, I did not get a favorable response.....
Look for a better / more agreeable dealer and good luck.

All dealers pay freight, a cost which they pass on to the consumer, whether they call it a freight charge or not. Identical to destination charge for a new vehicle.

I would agree that all dealers pay freight and that maybe some just consider it part of the cost of machine. Others want to break out the charges. My experience this year at lloking for a new quad is that not all dealers are the same. some dealers will start with a price and then add in other charges such as freight and set up. yet other dealers don't.
I would follow the other suggestions and shop around!!! I found dealers that had a higher base price plus added in all those extra fees. I also found dealers that had a lower base price and didn't add in those extra fees. guess who got my business?????
Personally I wouldn't pay those extra fees. I think they are bogus and the dealer is just pocketing the money.
