Thinking of upgrading
#1
Hi - new to this forum, but throwing around the idea of getting a new quad this summer.
I started riding in fall 2008 with a small 2000 Honda 250 SportTrax, I quickly outgrew it after a year, I'm 6'2" and fairly big guy so that quad was way too small.
In August 2009 got a 2003 Suzuki LTZ 400 with modified exhaust and suspension and absolutely loved it!! It is smooth and perfect trail quad, I do a lot of trail riding, maybe dunes 2x a year, and usually one trip somewhere else... Last year we went up north to the Upper Peninsula and rode some extremely rocky trails, utility quad would have been nice but the Suzuki did well, having swing arm guard was a must.
Now I'm getting to the point where I'm maxing out the Suzuki's power on the trails a lot and would like a little more power. Been throwing around the idea of Suzuki LTR450, but not sure how it would do on trails, is it too wide? Does anyone ride one on trails? I'm looking for the perfect balance of power for dunes/trails, never do any track racing.
Any other suggestions? What about Yamahas? Not sure I want a utility quad just yet.
