Hi,

I found a 2008 Polaris Sportsman 500 for $3600 local on craigslist (going to look at it tomorrow). The guy said he changed the oil every spring since he had it (shouldn't you change the oil two times every year?). The ATV has 600 miles on it. Not sure on the hours.

Is there anything I should look for to see if this is a good machine?

 

With that low mileage it shouldn't have anything wrong with it. Test ride it and see if it makes any odd noises or feels funny in any way.

 

The guy on the 2008 Polaris Sportsman wrote me and said he decided to keep it. After he emailed me from a craigslist ad I had.

I went to look at a 2007 Polaris Sportsman 500 EFI today. It has 1200 miles, overall very dirty and muddy. Seat and plastics were covered in dirt. The thing that really stuck on to me was how dirty the air box was... is the air box supposed to be this dirty (photos below)?
