Default Are these quads maintenance nightmares?

Hi again, another question if I may...

I have mixed feelings about buying a Honda 450R, or a Banshee, because I am afraid they are high maintenance. Does anyone own a Banshee, or a Honda 450R who can share their experience about upkeep?

Banshee's can be high maintenance. My brother had one. Most of the time it was fine. Ran great. But, he always kept spare plugs because occasionally he would foul a plug. Dual carbs means double work when it comes to cleaning. And if one is a little trashed it will run horrible. I usually tell people if your not into tinkering, you don't want a 'shee.

Now, as for 450's. People will tell you high maintenance. Saying often need valve adjustments, and rebuilds.....I have had my 04 yfz for 3+ (or is it 4) years, my brother an 05 450r for the same. Neither of us have had to do any such thing. We change oil often, and ride alot. I've had the stock waterpump go out and a compression plug (known problem. Yamaha fixed later years) break. Other than that, nothing. As far as I'm concerned your maintenance would be oil changes and air filter cleaning. Same as any quad.
