Default Good quad for Baja

Need some insight for a quad to use and leave down in baja. My son is 8 bought him a taotao 110 a three of years ago, then bought a taotao 125 two years ago. We live in Texas so the TaoTao have not been to much of a problem. We go down to my father-in-law place in baja for two weeks a year he use to just ride on the back of the adult quads we have down there but last year said he wanted his own for down there. Have a wide range of terrain plus some sand dunes. Question has anyone use the Tao Tao or other Chinese models, or what would you recommend? Now that he is older he is looking to start going down two or three times a year. He is not a timed rider.
Thanks for any help

I don't know much about the Chinese quads but I would think something like a good used Honda 250ex or Suzuki Z250 would be the logical next step up for your son. They both have an automatic clutch and are still pretty small and lightweight but big and powerful enough that he wouldn't outgrow them for several years. If he is comfortable with a manual clutch, a Yamaha Blaster would be another good choice for a younger rider that wants a bit more power than the youth quads will provide.

I would suggest a Polaris Trailblazer 250.
