Buying a new ATV
#1
Hey all i'm from NJ my name is Jay T. and I am in the market for a new ATV. Yes everyone might think im crazy for being 13 and I am looking for a big machine. I have a good amount of experience and I am almost 6 feet. I have been looking at the Arctic Cat, Can Am, Honda, pretty much all of em including Suzuki. I live in rural new jersey and I do not live in the city. I don't want any biased stuff on here but I have heard a lot of good things so I know a lot of people have can ams on here and such. Also by the way I am buying this with all my own money IN CASH. Yes I have a lot saved up but I am putting half toward a truck so it will be enough. I currently have an 04 yamaha blaster and I know I can handle the big machines. I want something with all the features, EPS, IRS, blah blah blah. Also I have experience in fixing ATV's as well. I am not sure what really to get but I looked into Can Am's the most as of right now and it really has me hooked on especially with the 5 year warranty. It seems that can am has the most power. I was also looking at the Polaris ACE 570 too I want something that is very comfortable and got a very nice speed and is good in the mud, and good at plowing snow. Thanks ya'll.

Sounds like your a speed freak so look at the twin cylinders, the 650 Can-AM outlander always interested me since they are 65hp yet cost less then the 800.
Bang for the buck camp is the 570 Polaris.
If just reliability was my thing yet not a slow poke a 700 Grizzly or 750 KQ.
Any 4x4 with a low range will plow snow.

Polaris machines typically have the most comfortable ride and on-board storage. Usually they come in second as far as power to weight ratio goes. 570 is a good machine. Son and a friend's son rented RZR 570's for a few days in Utah riding the Paiute Trail. Had good power considering we went from 6500 ft. elevation to 10,000 plus.
Can-Am has the best power per cc. Rotax is a great engine. Love the 650 I have in my Outlander Max. Great all-around power. Not quite as comfortable a ride as the Polaris' machines I've owned or been on. Still, a pretty nice ride. The 500 has power up there with a lot of 700 class machines. Son's Renegade 500 is a blast to ride. Lighter feeling than the Outlander and an all-around blast. CVT transmission on the Can-Am are a bit on the noisy side. I'm used to it. Some don't like it.
Suzuki King Quad is one of the better bang for the buck machines. KQ and Yamaha Grizzly are good all around machines that have good reliability.
Honda needs a more powerful machine, in my mind. Good reliable quad but lacking the power and speed.
Not up on Arctic Cat.
These are observations from years of riding the New England area. Hop on as many machines as you can for a test ride. See what feels right for you.
