IM going to buy a quad son, mainly for trail riding and my budget will me limited, i was thinking between, a 250X and a 300ex, also a Warrior and a Mahove. Which do you think would be the best for Hills, speed and top end power?? I live in KY and here the terrian is Kind of hilly' (lol) Rolling foot hills, and alot of times its wet. Any suggestions?

Oh and dont even say 400EX or Raptor, TOO much money and to fast for me!! LOL

I think the 300 is the best trail bike available! Avoid the Warrior, it's to big and heavy, and the 250X won't have as much power. On trails, I can actually go faster on the 300 than the 400, becasuse it handles better in the tight stuff.

well, for what you want it for, get a scrambler 400 2x4, since you dont need 4x4 for what you want,
it will out run all the bikes you listed, its not as fast top end as a 400 ex either,

Hey yzguy, have you ever ridden the 250X? that thing has loads of power and great handling, and you can get it cheaper than the 300ex. you could get a used 250X for anywere from a $1000-2500 and then put a thousand in it and have a great quad that would tear the 300ex apart. The only thing better about the 300ex is that it would be new and you wouldnt have to worry about the frame cracking as much. but i would still go for the 250X its a great qaud.

just my 2 cents

250X has more power than a 300EX. 'nuff said. i'd get the 300 tho just cuz its new plus it has electric start which is nice to have for a trail bike.

Boy, the 250X people sure came out of the woodwork. You're giving up 50cc to the 300. I can't remember, but isn't the 250 a 2-valve, where the 300 is 4-valve?? And, yes, I have ridden one! It belongs to my buddies wife, and it was just freshly rebuilt when I rode it. I can't recall anything remarkable about it.

im not a 250x person,
i am a polaris man

i rode a warrior and a 250x at a 4th of july party, i rode them separate, then i went out with two warriors when i rode the 250x, much more 1st and second gear power, and i smoked them on the really long straight smooth trails

i say you gotta go with the 300ex if you dont wanna do much work and just ride, but if it were me, i'd get the best of both bikes... here's what i'd do.. find myself a good 250x,, the top end could be out of it so that you could get it cheaper, then i would find a 300ex head and piston and put over onto the 250x. this would make it the same size as the 300ex (282cc), and you wouldn't have to pay near as much for the 250x, and used 300ex parts can come pretty cheap, as a matter of a fact, i think you know a guy who's trying to sell a used 300ex dont you tweeter??(lol) if you could get just his motor or even just his top end off him for a good price, that's what i'd do. and also, you'd have the exact same motor as the 300ex, only with a kickstart, that way you dont have to worry with buying a $50 dollar battery every time one goes dead. just my opinion. if i go back to the smaller bore bikes (i used to have a 300ex) i'd do this setup i just explained.
