I'm a young buck who likes to trail ride, and do it fast. The thing is, I live in Buffalo, NY -- where it SNOWS four months out of the year. My question is, can a Honda 400 EX make it through 4" to 1 foot of snow without much of a problem with that low ground clearance? Or should I go with something like the Polaris Scrambler 4X4 500, with on demand 4 wheel drive for when I get stuck. Oh yeah, when that snow melts, it leaves a heck of a lot of mud. Can the 400 EX make it through the sticky stuff, or should I go with the slower Polaris "Sport" 4X4?

I strongly recommend the suzuki 500 vinson. It is quick, and can also handle the sloppy stuff. My buddy has an ex. He can go through about 4" of snow, but that's it. The polaris is to slow and bulky. Stick with the vinson and you will be happy all year round !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree with GAURDOG.I'd personally stay about as far away from Polaris products as you can.I owned two brand new ones, nothing but constant problems with both of them, needless to say,I wont be buying Polaris for a very long time again.

The EX will certainly get hung up ALOT in the conditions you mentioned. They are poor mudders and dont like deep snow either.Either the Vinson or the new Honda Rincon should do what you want?

Hey, thanks muddy4life. Getting back to the subject. I ride with 8 to 10 guys every weekend. There are both vinson's and rincons out there. From my viewpoint, the vinson will run circles around the honda seven days a week and twice on tuesdays !!! I have seen both machines being put thru the paces on trails, hill climbs and racing flats. The suzuki wins ALL of the time. So the moral of the story is .... If you want to have your cake and ice cream too... Then by the zuke !!!

I forgot to mention one thing. I agree with muddy4life when he says that the polaris are nothing but a headache. not very reliable. I have seen many of them along side the trail tinkering with something. You can usually spot one in your rear view mirror if you have one !!!!!!!!!!!

can't believe you guys crapping all over polaris. wanna good chuckle. we were at our cabin last weekend, 10 miles back in the country. spent the night arguing about hondas versus polaris (we were riding 2 honda 300's and a polaris 500). our polaris buddy spent the night bragging about his machine. the next afternoon, i had to tow him out!!...belt trouble...his lifetime warranty on the belt didn't do him much good that day.

Guarddog,

You ride with Rincons? They're not due out until this summer.... do you mean Rubicon's?
