New Yamaha
#1
Hi,
I've decided to buy a Yamaha ATV this next year but I'm not sure which atv would fit my size. I'm 6'4", 220lbs. Would the Big Bear 400 be big enough or the Kodiak? The Grizzly's my number 1 choice but if the Big Bear or Kodiak are big enough I'd settle for one of either. Thanks

Your a pretty big boy bud,
You'll have to go with the new 660, I am only 6ft 200lbs and the kodiak was too small for me. I went with the 600 grizz at the time, now you have to get the 660.
The new ones are great but there harder on fuel these big bores. You should try the new Cat's or the Bombardier traxter's, they can handle big guys and are less expensive and really tough.
Hope this helps.

I think that the Kodiak and Big Bear will both be big enough for you...i'm 6'2, 210 and both those bikes are plenty big for me....kodiak has a bigger motor than the big bear and is auto....big bear is footshifter (don't think they have an auto model big bear)...my choice is the big bear.

I'm 6'3" and around 170, and have been riding a 4x4 big bear for the past four years with no problem. It's a steady performer for trail riding and farm work, and has been extremely reliable. I decided to replace it this spring, no dissatisfaction with it, just a case of daddy needs a new toy. Loved the grizzly, but they were just too high priced, and dealers ain't dealing on them. Most of my farm is rough trails and steep hills, so I wanted to upgrade the handling capabilities beyond what the current BB and Kodiak have. My bear would get through, I just wanted to get through in style. Ended up with a Cat 500i, and love it. Plenty big enough for me. Not the fastest quad in it's class, but man this thing clings to rough trails like, well, a cat. Smoother ride, doesn't beat me up the way the bear did on rough ground. But, if you don't need the extra ground clearance or rough trail capability, the current bear or kodiak will probably do you just fine. My bear certainly held up well.

I own both a '98 4WD Big Bear and a 660 Grizzly. I haven't had a problem with the Big Bear except 45mph is as fast as it goes. That would be okay except that you are listening to a motor just screaming. It needed a sixth gear. The Grizzly on the other hand has it all. There are a few bugs in it , but luckily I haven't experienced any of them.
