I'm getting ready to buy (something). Do ATV dealers discount as auto dealers do? If so, how much should I expect? Thanks.

never pay MSRP and never ever pay the stocking and assembly fee!
You should be able to get a couple hundred off atleast!

Honda dealerships hold to MSRP more than any other. Especially when something new comes out. But their reasoning is that you pay a little more now, and less later because of reliability.

I think all the ATV's are built well and its how you take care of them. Get the best deal you can. Pit one dealer against another. It works. The market is softer right now and they want your business.

Here are the best deals I have found.

Prairie 650 $6,199.
SP700 $6,319
SP500HO RSE $6,400 with winch
SP500HO $5,900
Grizz 660 $6,400
Cat 500i $5,400

Around here, you can get really good prices on Hondas. Suzuki has played the spoiler!! Demand for the Z400 has driven the 400EX prices down, which has driven the 300EX prices down, which has....

Never pay full MSRP, dealer margin is between 20% - 30% depending on the model. Offer $500 less than sticker at least, let them counter. Don't pay any documentation fees or prep fees, they go right back in the dealers pocket. Then right before you sign, pick out a nice new helmet and have them toss it in as well. Good luck. Just bought a new Z 2 weeks ago.

I was looking at quads last spring. Yamaha and Honda dealers wouldn't budge on the grizz and rubicon prices, Kaw knocked $200 off a P650. I ended up buying an AC 500i - $5800 OTD, which was $700 off list, no sales tax 'cause farm usage. Some dealers expect your business, and some want it. I've since heard of some dealers discounting the grizz, but the two I checked with were list price only.

Some of you guys have little knowledge in ORV sales.I work in sales at a local Honda dealership and im here to tell you that there is not as much $$ in these ATVs/cycles as you think. The more an ORV costs, the more $$ profit there is to the dealership.

For instance,a little 50cc XR Honda lists for 1099.Do you really think that a dealer can afford to give you 500 bucks off that price? On the other hand,a 450es Foreman lists for 6399 and we can afford a FEW hundred dollars off list here, but could not let it go for 500 less the 6399 in most cases.

And yes,DOC and FREIGHT are REAL fee's and you will pay for them.I will say that DOC fee's are only 40 bucks and FREIGHT fee's are only 98 bucks.I know ALOT of dealers INFLATE these fee's,so be careful here.

I have never once paid for document or dealer prep fees. Just turn around and head for the door. They will be lined out on the contract faster than you could blink.
