Default 250ex vs. 300ex vs. blaster

I have owned both of these machines. I would say go with the 300ex if you are looking to do casual paced, scenic trail riding. It is a little larger, the suspension is plusher, it has reverse, and overall will suit this type of easy-going riding style better. Also, if you're not into maintenence, the Honda would be a bit more user friendly. The 300EX is the perfect turn-key, no problems, hop on and ride all day, week, month, year without a problem type of machine. Excellent choice. Now, I am a Honda man myself, but even I have to give the nod to the Blaster if you are going to be doing any aggressive style riding, or if you feel you might be up for some aftermarket add-ons later on. You can get a new Blaster for under $3,000 out the door at most dealerships, and with the money you save, you can really outfit the machine to even better match your riding style. The machine is a little smaller, so if you're over say 5'6", 180 pounds, you'll probably be a little cramped on the Blaster, but it is peppier performing. This certainly is a lot of machine for the money, but it is not quite up to the quality and craftsmanship of the more expensive Honda. Weigh your options, take test rides if possible...Good Luck.

I just read about the Kasea Skyhawk 250 in the last issue of ATV Action. That's interesting how this machine appears. Fake blaster, with 2 cylinder 4 stroke motor. Those two cylinders have to sound nice. I can't wait to hear one.

Having been around a blaster and a 300ex for 2 years I would go with the 300EX if you can afford the price difference. If not I would go with the blaster over the 250EX simply for the fun factor. One thing I didn't like about my nephews 97 blaster was the cable front brakes. With the 03 model I see they have added hydraulic brakes which should really help in the braking department.

Heck throw all this away and if your just starting on a quad the blaster is such a good value and by the time you get tired of the machine you will be wanting to move up to a better machine with more power anyway.

But wait a second, the 300EX is the wheelie king.

I don't know what to tell you.

300ex has a light front-end and the balance point great. Go with the EX, electric start and reverse are real handy at times. 4 strokes are easy to maintain, less fuel consumption too.

have you forgotten that the blaster is the wheelie machine? 2 stroke, with that short wheel base? and is fast, fun, and one of the last standing cheap 2 strokes left?

I know everyone says the blaster's are great which dont get my wrong they are fabulous but i still like my 300ex it is fun in hair scrambles and i have seen a 300 and a raptor (yes a raptor) keep up with each other in a race.
