There isn't enough weight difference to matter.

Its not just weight .The 2" more weight and less ground clearance vs a 1-1/4".
Why lose 3/4" ground clearance , pay more and add more weight if you do not have to.

If anything they should make a smaller specialized 1" or 3/4" receiver set up for a ATV for all the weight a ATV will ever tow. A full sized receiver from a pickup truck with a 7000lb is just over kill to me.
I never seen a trailer a straight bolt on ball to the OEM hole on the axle could not handle and I pulled some big trailers around.

It still isn't enough to matter - most people I know with 4x4 wheelers are carrying all kinds of chains, cables, and other gear that the small amount of weight of 2" receiver vs 1 1/4" isn't enough to matter - not to mention the various weights of riders. The 3/4" clearance isn't an issue either since very few (if any) hang below the frame. The added cost of buying additional receivers makes it even less appealing.

I think everything should standardize to 2". There are so many different size ***** and for what reason. Of course no one will tow a 18' tandem axle car hauler with their atv, but it's so convenient to have one ball for everything. Moving a bass boat around the yard with an atv, or hooking a pontoon boat to my truck, hauling my Blazer on a trailer or toting around a atv trailer and doing yard work. Same ball and done.

I mean, why is your external HDD, a printer, a router, your camera, cell phone all a USB They used to be different, it changed for a reason.

I wish a 2" ball was standard and they got rid of the 1-7/8". Why make a ball 1/8" smaller? It doesn't make any sense to me. I have a 2" ball on my ATV so I can pull the trailer I haul it on. When I go with my friend to get wood I can't pull one of his trailers unless I switch *****.

I agree - I don't know why people just don't go with a standard size
