Default Need Help ds650

Ok guys I have a 2000 DS650 and it cranks over very slowly even with a new battery not fast enough to start!! I noticed by accident that when i loosen the stator cover bolts it cranks quickly and starts right up. It seems to be leaking compression into the crank case and with no where to go the motor cranks slowly. But as said earlier when I loosen the side cover bolts it starts quickly while blowing air and oil out all over. When started it seems to run good idle good any help would be great !!!!!!!

Is this a new problem that just came up ? Or did you get the quad like this. If you got it like this it might be that somebody has had the stator cover off and istalled the couple of thrust washers incorrectly. I did this myself and the bike would not turn over at all. There are 2 small shafts inside the cover and there needs to be 2 thrust washers on one of those shafts so that the cover does not bind up. Somebody else will chime in and give you a better discription of the washer and how they are suppose to go together.

Hope this helps - Keep us in the loop and let us know how you make out
