Another chain question.
Tyre hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong. But stock gearing is 16/40. IF you run the 15/41. It will still be the same gearing as stock. If you do run the 15/41 you shouldn't have to take any links out. Going from a 16 stock to 15 in front would drop your gearing and give you more bottom end and you would have to remove a link if you stayed with the stock 40 in rear. Do a search on gearing or sprockets and there are a bunch post for this question.

No the 15/41 would the same size and gear ratio as the 16/40 combo. Because you would be smaller in front and larger in rear making them =. Sorry about the other post read it wrong. IF you wanted shorter than you would need to go 15/39 and then you would take a link out. If you go down one size tooth in front its like going up 3 size teeth in the rear.

I don't want to sound like a smart @$$ or something. But I think your confused...or maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.
Click the link in my signature that goes to my website. Then click ressources on the navigation bar on the left. That is a gearing calculator. Look at what it is with 16/40, then try it with 15/41 or whatever. You'll see that you will gain bottom-end (lose top-end). Unless the calculator is wrong....
