I hit a slab of concrete rock. It caused me to barrel roll and then causing my DS to cartwheel. Headlight, front plastic, tach, one tie-rod is all bent up. All that is replaceable and can be fixed however... the thing that is making me scratch my head is the DS now will not turn over. I hit the start button and I don't even hear the starter trying to crank it over. Is there anything under that dash that will prevent it from wanting to start?

Anyone know where I can get a 2000 front plastic DS with all the decals on it already? I'm really bummed about this. I feel like crap... but after reading what happened to ScoobyDFW my problem is minute compared to his. I'm upset to hear about his quad. Wrecks suck!!

 

Sorry man, that sucks. Seems like someone wrecks a bike just about every weekend. Lets all try to make next weekend a no crash weekend, umm yea, I'm going out next weekend. Sure hope it works..

 

bummer dude, i feel for ya. sorry, I don't have any of the parts you need.
your starting issue may be electrical, considering the front end damage, maybe some wiring got damaged under the front end. does anything electrical work at all? maybe the main fuse blew when the headlight broke, from either damaged wires or bulb socket.
just throwing ideas out...

 

Actually I see the red light and the neutral light go on. The tach also lights up. I think the not wanting to start issue might have to take it to the dealer for that one. My DS might sit all summer long. This was so out of my budget...........=(

I ran into a dealer who is no longer a dealer now and he said that he still had parts for 2000 and 2001 DS's. I lost the number but the name of the place is Marienville Power Sports in Marienville, PA. The number is something like 814-967-? Give him a call. If you get the plastic new, however, it does not come with the stickers on.

 

I got new plastic from Parker yamaha. It came with stickers for about 80$ I think. I also had my shut off switch on the handle bar mess up after a wreck. I took it apart and it was not making contact . Good luck.

 

DDrecDS THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR RESPONDING!!!! Yes the contact had sand it in. I took it all apart and cleaned it out now it starts on the dime. Now... if only Parker Yamaha can get back to me with those part numbers so I can order them.

 

Hey Entomber, I got a question for ya. Im just curious to ask, did you have insurance on your quad? When i got my loan to buy my DS my bank made me get insurance. Im just wondering what the insurance will cover. Anyone else got insurance on their quad?

I live in NJ. In case for all those who don't know NJ has some of the highest insurance rates in the country. Progressive offers insurance anywhere in the us BUT New Jersey. There are a few companies that insure quads here. I'm going to look into it. I have three bikes (including my kids which I just hopped up) and it's been a serious investment for me.

 

Entomber, You are welcome. I am glad I could help. The part numbers you need are 705000273 fascia-front I paid $61.84 Thats the front plastic. Mine came with all decalson it. 710000053 Head lamp $69.57. 410504401 bulb-hal.h4 $9.00 and the rear fender was 703-500-124 for $53.00 Good luck.
