You should because you get a lot more air flow. Do a plug check first and see.

Default Need to rejet???

If needing to rejet will I need to go bigger or smaller from the stock? Also if going up in elevation will I have to go bigger or smaller? I am a real novice when it comes to this.

Thanks!!!

Well your increasing airflow meaning you have to increase fuel flow so bigger jets. As for elevation I'm not sure but it makes sense that the higher the elevation the thinner the air is, meaning less air and the need for smaller jets. Correct me if I'm wrong people.

With just a filter and the airbox lid on I would probally leave it alone. If you pull the airbox lid off you might need to jet up 1 or 2 jet sizes. Stock is 165. 1 up is 167.5 and 2 up is 170 mikuni jets. This is based on sea level.

I am @ 1700 ft. I had the lid off the air box and it just seem pull alot harder then with it on. I am taking off this weekend to St. Anthony's where the elevation is 5000. So if I leave the lid off which will bring in more air, but with the thinner air, everything should about equal itself out???

Also where can I get a jet kit overnight then or would it just be easier to pick one up @ rockymountain when I get there???

With airbox lid off at 5000 ft I would leave it stock. At 1700 ft I would go up 1 jet size. You should look at Buttfungus's website, it has alot of rider's jetting info. Do a search under "ds jetting/mods data".

I have looked @ that, sad part is nobody is really stock on there. That just means it is time to invest more money. Thanks for the info.

You can always mess with the mixture screw also. That is the screw on the bottom in front of the fuel bowl in the middle.

Babymoose,

I agree with JMAC650, you should leave it jetted at 165(stock) and leave the airbox lid off for St.anthonys. At home(even with stock encap) I would go to a 180 mukini jet and leave the air-box lid off,and then try it with it on. You should also have your AIR/FUEL mixture screw out about 3 turns. It is important to take the time and try out every Needle position after you get the other stuff done.

It takes some time, but it will be worth it, and you will know ALOT about carb tuning when your done!
