Default Man on a Mission :D:D:D

Ok, if you have just read my last post, this will follow right along with it. I raced in the ATV rodeo tonight, and I feel I did ok! This was my first time ever in such events so didn't really know what to expect. I ride mostly trails and such. I was .5 of a second off of being third in a rally which was on grass and set up with barrels. I took about 5th or 6th in a barrel race and second in the 4-stroke drags. I would have won the drags, but i couldn't keep the front end down enough, and then i would bogg a bit taking back off.

Here is what i need. I WILL NOT LOOSE THE NEXT 4-STROKE DRAGS DOWN HERE!!!!!

I am going to add some goodies, but i need to know if you all think this is a good enough set up. I am gonna go with the T-4 Pro-Circuit full race exhaust, Vortex CDI box, jet kit and KNN. I am not sure which tires to go with, but i'm leaning toward the maxxis razor II's. I really want to rock the 300 foot, and be the king of the drag (not wanting too much am I??..lol ).

I know I could have beat the guy if I could just have kept the front end down. Hell, i beat his buddy with the exact same set up! but will this set up also help me break the tires loose?

Being the only DS out there, I am making a name for us...I have really impressed some people with our big beast..

Thanx for all your help guys!!

Kenny

Sounds like you did alright for being your first event. I wish there was some type of 4wheeler events around here except for poker runs....

Those mods will be a good start for running quicker times, but does Pro-Circuit really make a full exhaust for the DS??

The Pro Circuit is a slip-on and will offer great improvements over what you have now.

The direct mount K&N will gain you the most HP but, not sure if I would run in your conditions (probably some water.)

That should help you with overall power but, not sure about the cornering. Not the kind of riding I usually do.

If your going to go full exhaust, I would go with the big names in the DS department like Ron Wood or Graydon, MBRP,etc. I would not waste my time with those FMF/Pro Circuit pipes unless there is a big difference in price over the the REAL complete systems.

Just my 0.02$.

When I first got my DS I had been riding a 400ex and wanted to drag. The first time I got spanked. I can tell you what I did to get in the game.
1st I got a CDI because of the rev limiter. I got a Ron Wood
2nd I got a slip on(Yoshimura)
3rd I got a K&N and a jet kit
4th I got tires(Dunlop radials like on a Raptor) This really depends on the dirt.4SNOWS are great in the loose stuff.
5th Go out and drag race. If someone is beating you watch them. See what they are doing.
I can tell you on hard pack try quick shifting. When it comes up shift to 2nd. If you are starting in second sit up on the tank and feather the clutch. It takes time and practice.
Im no expert but Im a lot better than I used to be.

first of all, if you get a ratchet tie-down strap and tie down the rear grab bar to the swingarm, you will launch out of the hole harder, and if you tie down the front, and compress the shocks, you won't wheelie as much.

If you want to save money, you can make a modified endcap. I can send you pictures of mine if you want. pretty much any slip-on would be fine, I like the HMF personally. A K&N filter is a good idea, and take off the lid and remove the snorkels. You can also play with your gearing to get going faster, or get taller tires.
