Has anyone had to replace this? My fan wasnt working today in extreme heat so i figured it may have gone bad. After a few minutes of checking things i found out its the temperature switch for fan that is bad.If i direct wire it with key on it runs fine but i hooked it to the switch and heated the switch with matches and the fan would not turn on.My temp/oil light has been acting weird also.Has anyone run into similar probs? Also can this part be bought elsewhere instead of bombardier? Has anyone had luck getting one from an autoparts store?

Sad to say that I have replaced mine about 4 times I think. They do go....I wil;l add that I haven't resealed the wire connections the last few times I replaced the switch. I was told that may be why I've gone through as many as I have. This last time I did, and so far so good. Any how....don't know if you can get them at an outo parts store. Never have tried. Prolly not though. I think I only payed 24 to 27 bucks for them. Thats cheap for a bomb part.

Wire to a manual switch. Takes all the heartache out of buying one or two every year.

Like eagle collector said, make sure you seal the connection really good. put som dielectric grease on the spades, attach the wires, and seal with silicone. Make sure you seal where the wire enters the spade connector boot also. I have lost 2 of these due to this, one of them ruined my battery also. It developed a high resistance short to ground, not enough to blow the fuse, but enough to drain the battery beyond recovery.

Also a manual switch is a good idea. However, I would set it up as a backup. Keep the thermostatic switch.
