Default Battery keeps going dead.

Over the last month or so my battery keeps going dead. It is like its not chargeing. The only thing is it will run for a a long time before it dies. It seems to only die when the fan is running. I thought i found a loose and coroded connection on the solonoid under the seat and hoped that was the problem. But this last time out I was letting a couple freinds that have never ridden befor ride it and the where creeping around real slow and the fan would run. Then when it was shut down it would not restart. The fan is factory original yet. I have never had to replace it. I was wondering if it was posible that the fan had developed a short that when it run drained the battery faster than it could be charged. Or if there was something else I need to check. Is there any way to check and see if its charging? I have a volt meeter and it says thaeres 12 volts at the battery when running. Even when its low enough it wont start the engine. Im stumped. It seems like its fine till it getts hot enough to run the fan. Thanks for any insight.

Default Battery keeps going dead.

I was also having a battery issue , do a search for "battery" under the bomb forum, there is some excellent info in there that may be able to help you . There is one member who has some excellent info his moniker is "JSsDS" , he posted stuff concerning battery problems in feb 25 2003 in this forum.

If you test across the battery when it is running with a voltmeter there should be more than 12 volts, there should be more like 14.5 or something close.

14.5v may be a little on the high side, it's probably more like 13.5 to 14.0. I don't rememeber the actual spec for the range. If the voltage is too high you may also have a regulator going out. Too low, too high, either one is bad.
