Default Rally Idle Problem

Searchine through some old posts I saw one person mentioned that they could not get their Rally to idle right. Has anyone else also had this problem?

I have the same problem with my new rally. It is frustrating, since you have to shift to neutral to start it. I have to keep one thumb revving the engine, at the same time shifting to forward or reverse. And sometimes you have it revved too high and grind the gears, that's not good. Any luck getting yopurs right?

I just turned the idle adjustment screw on the carb (left hand side) about 1/4 turn clockwise. Seems to be just enough to smooth everything out.

There was an update out to change parts in the carburator. Check with your dealer to see if yours has been done.....With out the update some machines allowed fuel to go from the carburator to the oil, when not in use.
Check your oil if you havent had yours updated.

Do you know if the update is free (like a recall) or do they charge you for it?

The dealer pays it for you. Just got ask your dealer about the update.

I think there was a service bulletin because some Rallys left the factory with the carb float level set improperly causing flooding or siphoning of fuel into the engine. Check your oil level, if it is high it may be contaminated with gas. Always turn your fuel off when not riding.

What is done is a float valve needle and seat replacement.
It's Bulletin #2004-1 , Campaign#2004-0001.
