Countershaft seal
#1
Mine finally bit the dust - making a mess, getting oil on the chain which then slings it everywhere. got two on the way from the dealer, one for stock.
There was all kinds of crap and grit built up behind the sprocket. I remove the cover oce in a while to clean and de-grease behind there and try to keep it neet, but you just can't bother with that after every ride. This grit packed behind there is what contributed to seal failure.
I now leave the sprocket cover off so I can clean behind it after every ride, as I clean and service the entire bike. I bought three 6mm stainless steel socket head cap screws and 3 stainless washers to fasten the case saver on with, and said screw the cover. Now I know why all the pros leave them off on their race bikes. Also makes changing sprockets much easier and faster.
Now I want a shiny new stainless chain to show off!

I just changed my countershaft seal also. I had a lot of buld up of grease and dirt but I bought some degreaser to clean up the mess and it's good as new now....... The only thing I had trouble with is getting that seal out!!! That's a pain in the *** I tell ya!
