where did you put the sheet metal? not around the pivot - between it and the bushings? my bushings are what is wearing, the pivot rotates inside them, and the edge of some sheet metal wouold just gouge the bushing.

Maybe it would, But I am going to get ever bump I can out of those rubber bushings. I have the sheet metal all the way around the steal bushing with lite 1/8 gap. I also hammered the the edge smooth.

I'm going to try and have some oil-lite brass bushings made. If it works I will let everyone know.

I build my own out of ultra high molecular wieght plastic and they are self lubricating . No squeaks or binding. Those mini lathes sure come in handy.
