Hey guys. I am new to this whole hang on, shut up, and ride thing. i.e. 4-wheeling. I just got my DS this year and love it. It is almost stock except for the pro-series piggyback shocks on the front. If anyone is wondering it is the best thing I have done to my DS so far. I ride in sothern Iowa and am looking forward to my first trip to Little Sahara, OK. Any advise on when to go there and where to ride when I get there would be helpful. The only question that I have for the great wizards in this forum is about handlebars. I need a new set after a wreck that bent the handlebars over my shoulder. Do I need a riser like Alba sells? What bend do I need? What is the best brand? I know that last one is a loaded question, but you guys act like friendly disagreement is what this is about. Thanks for all the help and ride till it hurts!

First of all....Welcome to the forums and most of all congrats on your decision to get one of the best bikes made...(my opinion at least).
Little Sahara is a blast. In fact im getting ready to make another trip up there in about two weeks or so. If you would like to meet up, let me know.
I won't be able to help you on the handle bars, but I am positive someone will post here shortly that does .

id suggest the alba riser with either Azonic or TAG handlebars.
I have the riser. it helps....
I also have renthal handlebars but i am going to be switching over to Azonic Handlebars
Make sure you get one of the bent ones. the more bend the better. dont get the straight ones....
good luck

I want to dress up my quad, not just put on new handlebars. From what I have found the only reason for the risers is for rider comfort. I don't think the bars will hit the tank. I am tall and if anyone can tell me if it is more comfortable with the riser and good bars before I spend all the money I would appreciate any advise.
Thanks for the advise in advance

I can't say from experience, but if the bars are a little higher, it will place your body in a more comfortable position. Picture a mountain bike. Now picture they bar ends they install so the rider can 'sit up' and rest a little. Yeah, I think the extra 1" might be cool. If it turns out you don't like it you can sell it on eBay or to someone in the forums.
