alright here is my problem lol.......i went riding at the rivr last weekend and i was gettin ready to take a little break so i kill my ds and then when i get ready to get back on it it just buzz's when i hit the start button.... is it the solenoid because i checked my battery with a voltage meter and its good.....any ideas?

 

if it's just buzzing or clicking , chances are your battery is just too weak- how old is the battery? is your charging system working? The battery may show good voltage just sitting there but the real test is to check the voltage under a load ie. when starting the bike.

 

Yea when my battery loses it's charge (very often), it starts out as a click the first time you hit the starter, then the second time it will start right up. Then after a couple times...it takes a few clicks before it starts. And eventually it won't start at all. And also with a weak battery, my DS would stall after a few seconds of idling. It did that for a whole day. Then I got home...charged my batt...Went out the next day and didn't have a problem.

Just try putting your battery on a charger. You got nothing to loose [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

Dumb question but whats a trickle charger.

i just replaced my rectifier box hope it hasnt went out again

 

Trickle chargers usually run at 2amps. They SLOWLY recharge the bat... You uses them on things like Jetskis, SOME sleds, ATVS, Cycles..

 

well SH*T i hooked the charger up to it and it still didnt turn the starter so im think the solenoid
