Default Taking my engine apart myself. {OPT PLEASE}

Hi guys,

I've decided to fix my engine myself on my Sportsman 500.

I don't have a grand to spend on my fourwheeler, so i'm trying to do everything the best way.

I'm going to take all of the plastic off, take a picture. Take everything else that's connected to the engine off, take a picture. Take the engine apart, take a picture. Then fix the rattling issue.

Here's what is wrong....

I took it to the Polaris shop and they found a metal thing through one of the holes behind the flywheel. They don't know what it is, but they say it's why the fourwheeler is SO ANNOYING and just overall abnormal. It's supposed to be semi quite, but that thing is sooo loud. Something is rattling in it. (The metal piece in the fourwheeler maybe?)

Please advise me the best piece of advice since the fourwheeler is big.

The best advice I can give you is to get a good manual. Even a Clymers is only a few bucks and well worth it if you don't want to purchase a Polaris manual. Read through the engine disassembly several times before you take a wrench to the engine.Even this older pdf download can get you familiar with the engine as the 500 has remained the same over the years. http://gh-ftp.com/ORV%20Manuals/Pola...0All%20Models/
