Default Does anyone use non-sealed batteries for a DS?

Yea, I'm still ragging on and on about batteries... I'm purty damn confused...

I can get a Yuasa battery for 104$ CA and a few other brands of 12 or 14 amp hour sealed gel batteries for 100+ $ canadian... They all have 1 year warranties..

I can also get a Energizer 14 amp ATV/Motorcycle battery (says on box it's made for off-road and rough terrain use).. These are the batteries that you buy, and when you get home, you pour the Acid into it, and they are good to go... I think this is what you call non-sealed right?..Anyway the Energizer battery is 50$ bucks with 6 month warranty..

Does anybody have experience with these?? I don't want to waste my money on a battery that will probably last 6 months and 2 days (with my luck), so I'd like some feedback before I buy one...

Thanks for listening to my whining again

Jeff

My Trax Max came with the unsealed battery. So far, it has needed some water. But it is only 3 months old.

My only first hand experience with a capped vented battery like you describe, at least as it relates to toy use, is in my personal watercraft. In that application they were good for one season and they were toast. In my opinion the sealed batteries outperform the standard lead acid units. The best battery I have seen is the Odyssey sealed gel type battery, but they are very pricey, probably 120 to 150 US. According to my battery distributor here are the part numbers for the OE style replacements:
Yuasa: WP13-12NE
Odyssey: PC545
