Oops, sorry Punisher. I've got my '72 'Cuda on my mind and have been looking into alum radiators for it(as well as fiberglass fenders, upper and lower valances, hood, trunk lid, etc) in an effort to lighten it up. You guys think the DS is expensive to lighten up? Try $3200 for a tubular K-member for an E-body Plymouth. Saves 100-150 lbs. It does include the upper and lower a-arms, coil-over shocks and a light weight rack and pinion. Heck, if it would save 150#'s off a DS, i guess $3200 would be a steal!

Man, I miss that car!!! If you ever need any advice or something on your car give me a call, I used to restore those beasts! You should have seen my real baby that i had to sell! 1970 Plum Crazy Purple Dodge Challenger R/T convertible, with all white top and interior, 440 6-pack and a 4spd. All original including the original Polyglass tires, with just 18,000 miles on her. DARN! Punisher,
Cool!!! I'll bet you REALLLLLLLY hated to get rid of that ride! Man, that thing is worth a FORTUNE! 500 hp on 91 pump!? What heads were you running? What cam? Carb? Too cool!!!!
I just bought a steel 440 crank and i'm gonna have the mains turned down and drop it in a 400 block i have. Presto! 451! Not sure if i wanna run a 4spd or 727(i have a 727 as well as a BB bellhousing, 4spd pedal assembly, Vertigate shifter). It has the Z-bar bracket already installed. The 'Cuda was originally a 340 auto car. It has an 8 3/4" rear(489 case) w/ 4.10's. It'll be awhile before i get it together though(like a year or two).
In my shop i have my friends 70 Coronet Convertible(its been there for 4 years!). Originally a 318 auto, it now sports a steel cranked 440(.030" over), Ross pistons(10.25:1), LY rods(ballanced assemblly), Fluid damper, INDY ALUMINUM SR heads w/ bowl work by Muscle Motors, Solid Ultradyne cam, Crane 1.6 rollers, Headman 2" primary jethot coated headers, custom 3" X-pipe and 3" all the way out, A833 4 spd, Lakewood scattersheild, centerforce clutch, A-body 8 3/4 rear w/ 3.91 gears, Serpentine belt conversion w/ underdrive crank pully, alum water cross over and waterpump, M1 single plane intake and Holley 850 Double pump carb. It sports around 575hp on 93 octane. You see, i'm a BAAAAAAAD influence on my friends. I built the motor and did the tranny conversion(as well as every other mechanical thing thats been done!).
In High school i had a 70 Challenger R/T, SE. Factory 383, A/C, 727. My dad bought it in Ill. and i drove it back to Texas(paid $1000 for it). We could have brought the original motor, but did'nt think it significant! It had a 440 in it and ran really well. I got it for graduation(in '88) and got in a bind and sold it for $1250... I had NO IDEA what it was worth...
I've had a 69 Belverdre, 69 Barracuda notchback, and 70 Road Runner since then. The fastest things i've had was my 1986 T-bird(Vortech, 5.0, Edelbrock heads, Tremec 5spd). It ran 11.70's on street tires @ 121 and got 21mph on the hwy with the A/C blowing. Nothing i've owned has matched the 00 'Busa that i sold at the end of 02. I ran 9.73 @ 142.50 with stk motor, stk pipes, stk wheelbase. Put a pipe on it and ran a 9.55 @ 147.37! Sold it and bought my DS...

birdoprey, I've got nothing but respect for the 5.0 and the mileage they can get. I too had a 73 rally challenger with an old school 440 in the mid 500h.p. range and pulled down a solid 7mpg. I never ran it at the strip but it had to be in the mid 11s on street tires. I loved to scare the bejeesus out of passengers that didn't know what to expect.
70 cuda, 68 charger, 70 dartswinger with twin scoops.
Punisher, was that car in magazines? Sweet car but I'd be almost worried to drive it, probably get creamed by some yahoo with no insurance.
