Default adjusting clutch ..

i loosened the bolt that holds the release lever, i couldn't pull the release lever off the splines to rotate it to the correct dimension. is it supposed to be on there real good? just use some wd 40 to loosen it and put some more muscle into it? i don't want to break anything yet on my new machine.. also... the correct place to measure for the clutch adjustment is from the left side engine cable bracket to the left side of the small cylinder at the end of the clutch cable in the release arm? i can't quit clearly see in the manual pic where to measure..

Take the bolt completely out, it fits in a groove. Gearshifter is the same way.

I wouldn't think you should be far enough off to have to move it a tooth anyway.
One tooth moves it a long way.

I would try the fine adjustments on either end of the cable. I just adjust mine to where there is about 1" of freeplay in the clutch lever.

don't torque that bolt to spec or it will crack that aluminum lever and cost you over $20 for a new one.

Default adjusting clutch ..

damn .. i read a caution note (didn't see it before i tryed to adjust) in my shop manual not to pull the release lever backwards. when i was trying to loosen it, i was pulling it every which way ... the caution note says the pressure plate bearing may come out of pressure plate. i haven't rode my machine since i adjusted yet. anybody think there is a good chance it has come out? .. any way to know other than pulling my clutch cover..
