Whats wrong with this picture?

I don’t know about you guys but I am starting to wonder about some of the so called “established” Rotax experts.

Doesn’t everybody know by now that Ceramic Coated pipes just don’t work in the sand? Then why the heck are they producing them?

Sprockets? It would seem that Aluminum has got to be about the worst material to make a sprocket out of. How about a decent sprocket made out of tool steel that fits over the sprocket hub?

Do our muffler makers understand that we need spark arrested mufflers that are also quiet (somewhere between 93db and 96db?). I say, “Hats off” to MBRP & LTE for making the attempt. So, what about the established performance muffler makers? Still thinking about Flat Track only?

What about CDI’s for the DS? It would seem the market is into performance and rev limited CDIs that work with the new models. Why are the old farts sitting on their success pushing no rev limit CDIs along with a re-wiring diagram for the Baja?

Carbs? Ok, a lot of you are talking about the easy adjustability of the Lectron. While I don’t have one yet, from your posts, it would seem that’s a very decent carb. Yet again, the established Racing shops seem more like K-mart then a performance shop by tinkering with Harley carbs.

It would seem all they can do is produce a product that for a quad that already goes like the wind – I know, lets make an air box for it and then it will …… go like the wind!

Sorry to vent, but WTF are the old farts doing anyways? How about a little bleeding edge and a lot less butter knife?

Sorry to vent – I’m just wanting better products!

I agree totally. Why has nobody made adj. cam gears? Has anyone tried playing with the ignition timing on the DS?

I agree, and the products we do have for the DS took years to get produced.
I have tweaked my timing and will try it out tomorrow. I don't have a dyno, just friends I'm trying to get faster than.
Has anyone ever considered a different length intake? I was looking at a cutaway of a Masaratti engine that is 500cc per cylinder and realized most engines have tuned intake runners much longer than are on our bikes.

Though I am no pro with the DS it would seem obvious to me that it would be better to sell a quickly wearing part for big $$$ than one that would last a long time, but then I would much rather be buying the second.

I guess that this problem of "well thought out and engineered products" is an industry wide issue but sounds like you guys get more than your share of it.

Here is an idea why not just design and fabricate it yourself and be the next doug roll

Yeah, I would have to agree with 'Rod. 44EX026, that is a good idea, however we all know the hold up on that - cash. A completly new venture is a tough thing to do. But hey, if anyone is willing I'll lend a hand for free.

I've always been better at marketing than manufacturing. If someone can make it, I'll get it out to the people. I've been looking at Titax, maybe this is the time to buy a bunch of those. Im just not a huge fan of foreign products, but if Americans are unwilling to step up to the plate, then I may be forced to deal with the guys accross the pond.

The 530 sprockets will always be more expersive, but maybe this place can give you guys a better deal on sprockets.....Sprocket Specialists. They are based in Cali.

Really?

1) Polished stainless steel, quiet performance exhaust.
2) CDIs that are performance and have a rev limit.
3) Carbs that don't take a rocket scientist to rejet and perform well.
4) Sprockets that last at least more than one season - steel or tool steel.

Some of that is available today. But I question why the so called leaders don't lead.
