Default Adjusting vs revalving?

I have the -1 swingarm but have not installed it yet. Is it a MUST to revalve it? I am assuming its simply stiffer rebound and compression.. Could I simply soften the compression and rebound to get the same effects only cheaper? Keep in mind I never really set mine up. It was just fine for me before...

I'd say that along with a little preload adjustment should suffice, especially if you were happy with factory settings before.
