500' dirt drags?
Hey guys, Ive run the 300' dirt drags before but never the 500'. Was wondering what you guys thought for front sprocket size? I have a plus 4 swingarm and it quits making H.P. at about 9200. I have a 14, 15, 16, and a 17 front. Any help would be appreciated, the race is saturday and sunday! Wooo Hoooo!!

Get a set of 4-snows,and put the 14 tooth on. If its a real dry slick track ,then put the 16 tooth on.
Second gear starts, and depending on the track, you will need to strap the frontend down. the stickier the track the more you need to "slamm it". you want as much wieght tranfer,as the track will allow. oh, and take all the preload out of the shocks(all of them) unless you are running a wheelie bar.

The drags are in bozeman montana. It is basicly a mowed down alfalfa field with a light tree and timeing lights. My motor is a samcoe 733 with dual 40mm lectrons. Oversized valves, full porting and race cams(109 webs),yada yada yada! Im running 20x11x10 turf tamers. The ground Should be fairly hardpack clay with grass.

Id say the 16. Anything lower and you wont be able to keep the front down. Go with the highest gear that will alow you to take off in second without it bogging. Later you might try a taller tire. The 4 snows are awesome. You can run them forward or backward depending on amount of traction. Good luck. Sounds like youve got a nice ride.

Meaners right,
If your going with a 20 turf tamer, you need to go with the tallest gearing possible. I would think with that track, and your torque, you should be able to blow the tires off with a 17 on front. You will need to strap the front down SLIGHTLY basically just a couple inches down from where it sits now, but the strap wont alloe the shocks to "flex" up, and you wont wheelie near as bad, I would also say that you should try full throttle take offs, setting about mid seat. If you can pull a 8 0r 10 inch power wheelie all the way through 2nd, then you are PERFECT!!
