Default best suspension setting

I have a 2000 DS650.. the suspension was set way down when I got it so I moved it up to make it stiffer and now it rides like crap... It was throwing me around like a rag doll today and I feel like I got ran over by a truck.. it also came back on me when I reached the top of a hill and hit a bump.. however I was impressed that the ds and I walked away unharmed... they really build these things good.... but I was wondering if there is a site that would give me an idea on the best settings for my weight.... I am 6'3 240... so I dont want it to be to soft and bottom out on any rocks or anything...

are they naturaly hard to trail ride??? it seemed like every lil rut or bump I hit yanked on the bars and made me feel like I was going to flip. when i was rideing trails it was just very hard to controle and I was tenced up the whole time trying to keep it under control

try toeing out the front tires and that should help the steering a lot, it will make what your feeling better for sure. try about a 1/8 inch, and go from there
