Sean,
The DS is also a heavy machine, but not as heavy as the V. As far as jumping I can jump the DS harder and further than the V for it has better suspension and I am not worried about bottoming out. The only thing I like about the V over the DS when it comes to jumps is always being in the powerband. If you don't feel like your gonna hit the jump just right you can just tap the gas and not have to worry too much about doing a nose dive. Many times I am up too high in a gear and down to low when I am on the DS.

how about reliability? oh, every time i crash my V, she is down for the count and i have to pack it up and go fix it. is the ds more rugged like the other sporties seem? when i was a kid, it seemed like these things never broke, just roll 'em back over and ride on.............

I bought an 04 DS w/o tach at the beginning of Sept. I have ridden the dunes at Sandlake, Winchester Bay, Florence, North Bend/Coos Bay, OR and at Sand Mountian Nevada. It is not as heavy as the V. No complaints about the power and the landings are soft due to the suspension. It has not failed me yet and is a blast to ride. Check out the pictures of my son jumping on the topic DS's Can Jump , he jumps much better than me. Mine is completely stock and is loads of fun.

I have had my ds upside down more time than i care to admit. Only once did it not survive. Busted oil return line, bent stem & bars. Oh yea and one time I needed help from my bro and another ridder to help get get turned right side up and back up on the trail. Yep back UP on the trail. Bruised ribs and such but the quad was fine. And it shouldn't have been. They are tough machines. You won't be disapointed there.
