Default air filter..

i pulled out my air filter for the first time and i noticed it has a foam "slip on" thingy on it. also, it looks like the stock air filter is paper?? .. i can wash that stock air filter with a degreaser and soap? it says so in the manual, just thought i would ask u guys. when i am finished washing, do i use air filter oil on just that foam thingy, or the foam and air filter?

javex,

The foam filter, after you wash it, can be oiled for better filtration.

The paper filterr is not washable. You have to replace it once it gets dirty.

Most people replace them with an aftermarket filter such as K&N, Uni, or No-Toil.

SANDMAN430 The Scott filter that you mentioned, was a re-usable oil filter. NOT an air filter. I would recommend them

I have an 04 also. I replaced the paper and foam thing with a K&N Filter. K&N is reuseable and easy to maintain. Will save you $$$ in the long run. I put the filter on and ran it, still runs good and no jetting change was needed
